Tasty Trick to Healthy Foods

Posted by Chris Powell on 07/30 at 05:50 AM under Eat

At Reshape the Nation, we NEED our food to taste good! You may be wondering if it is even possible to do this with “healthy” food? I have some great news for you - it IS possible to have healthy food that tastes great! But first, we need to do a little bit of what I like to call “Taste Bud Therapy.”

Interesting fact - did you know it takes just ONE week of this “taste bud therapy” for you to start tasting the natural goodness of healthy foods?  Let me explain:

Taste buds have a pretty incredible way of working. The tiny taste buds on our tongue actually look like little onions with blades of grass growing out of the top. This “lawn” is where we taste our foods. Eating foods that contain chemicals, sodium, and sugar will essentially “mow down” that lawn, so over time, our tongues require MORE chemicals, MORE sodium, and MORE sugar to get the same good taste in our foods.

Reshape the Nation’s way to trick the taste buds asks you to switch over to “clean” foods for one week. At first, these foods may taste a bit bland because we have already damaged our “blades of grass” that help us taste. After one week, go ahead and try some of your old foods, and you’ll think you’re tasting them for the first time again - sweet foods will taste even sweeter, and fatty foods will taste pretty darn greasy!

Give the taste bud experiment a try and see for yourself how tasteful healthy foods can be!!
